What You’ll Do
Test Strategy, Verification and Automation – 80%
- Review system requirements and develop comprehensive test plans covering functional, performance and boundary scenarios.
- Create traceability matrices linking test cases to system requirements.
- Establish verification standards, tools and best practices for the team.
- Validate optical provisioning, alarms, telemetry and software upgrades across NETCONF, CLI and gRPC interfaces.
- Perform end-to-end black-box testing from SDN network controllers to network elements.
- Verify:
- Network protocols, including OSPF, BGP and LLDP.
- Optical systems, including EDFA/Raman amplifiers, OSC, WSS, OCM and OTDR.
- OTN and high-speed transponder functionality.
- Develop and maintain Python-based test automation.
- Build CI/CD regression pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab.
- Run daily sanity, regression and software/hardware upgrade testing.
- Maintain test repositories and produce release test-summary reports.
- Create tests for new customer requirements and retest bug fixes for legacy products.
- Support customer validation of new system features.
- Mentor junior verification engineers.
- Lead automation-script reviews and promote consistent engineering practices.
- Collaborate with hardware, software and system architecture teams to improve product performance and development processes.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Eight or more years of embedded software verification experience.
- At least five years of experience in the optical networking industry, covering Layer 0 and/or Layer 1 equipment.
- Experience automating northbound interface testing using NETCONF/YANG, RESTCONF, CLI or SNMP.
- Strong Python scripting and Linux-based embedded system testing experience.
- Knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, OSPF, BGP, LLDP and RSTP.
- Experience with DWDM systems and technologies such as EDFA, Raman amplifiers, WSS, OSC, OCM and OTDR.
- Familiarity with OTN and 100G, 400G and 800G transponder products.
- Experience with Agile development, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with third-party test equipment and system-level automation.
- Knowledge of networking data models, including OpenConfig and YANG, and relevant security protocols.
- Strong English communication skills and experience working with global teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver against demanding schedules.
