To strengthen our Europe organization, we are hiring a Product & Solutions Manager – Energy Systems / Trading
based in Reutlingen (BW) to ensure regional product compliance, technical competitiveness, and structured alignment between European market requirements and global development teams.
Position Summary
This individual contributor role is responsible for ensuring that our residential and C&I energy systems are fully compliant, technically competitive, and successfully deployed in the European market. Support and lead local certification and product listing processes for energy storage systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and market access requirements.
The position acts as the primary technical interface between the European region and global HQ teams, with responsibility for regulatory alignment, localization priorities, and complex solution support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance & Certification
- Monitor regulatory developments affecting energy storage systems and electricity markets, including EnWG, §14a EnWG implementation, dynamic tariffs, smart meter integration, and local market-access requirements.
- Assess regulatory and technical requirements for participation in relevant electricity markets, including wholesale, imbalance, and ancillary-services markets.
- Ensure compliance with applicable European grid codes and standards, including VDE-AR-N 4105, VDE-AR-N 4110, relevant EN standards, wiring requirements, and CE requirements.
- Coordinate certification and product listing processes with internal stakeholders, external testing bodies, certification authorities, and other relevant institutions.
- Ensure timely adaptation of firmware, hardware, communication interfaces, and technical documentation where required.
2. Product Localization & Roadmap Coordination
- Ensure that product roadmaps consider requirements for market participation, VPP integration, dispatchability, APIs, and control interfaces.
- Translate regional market, regulatory, grid-connection, and customer requirements into structured product specifications.
- Coordinate with global product and R&D teams to prioritize necessary modifications for European markets.
- Provide structured input to regional go-to-market planning, including market-entry requirements, certification needs, and potential partnership models.
- Support lifecycle management of localized products and provide market intelligence for key regions, including Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, South-Europe, and other relevant European markets.
3. Solution Architecture & Technical Support
- Support the technical design of VPP and energy-market integration strategies in accordance with local market rules and grid requirements.
- Support Sales and Pre-Sales in the design of residential and C&I storage systems, including solutions prepared for energy trading, flexibility services, or ancillary-services markets.
- Provide technical guidance for complex projects, key accounts, and market-integrated storage solutions.
- Collaborate with product, solution, software, and regulatory teams to ensure readiness for APIs, dispatch, control, telemetry, and system integration.
- Support resolution of escalated technical cases at Tier-3 level.
- Contribute to reducing system incompatibility and integration risks through proactive system design.
4. Ecosystem & Interoperability Management
- Act as a technical interface between the company and relevant external stakeholders, such as energy traders, utilities, aggregators, TSOs, DSOs, and market operators.
- Assess technical requirements for market participation, including communication, dispatch, control, and data-exchange interfaces.
- Ensure compatibility with third-party systems, including EV chargers, heat pumps, smart-home controllers, smart meters, energy management systems, aggregators, and VPP platforms.
- Support the identification and evaluation of suitable market-access and partnership models, including cooperation with aggregators, energy suppliers, utilities, trading platforms, and other market participants.
- Conduct technical benchmarking against competitors in Europe.
- Support structured feedback loops from service, commissioning, sales, and external partners.
5. Internal & External Representation
- Communicate relevant requirements and opportunities related to electricity markets, VPPs, flexibility services, and storage monetization.
- Deliver technical training to sales, pre-sales, service, and commissioning teams.
- Represent the company at technical events, webinars, customer meetings, and selected meetings with market and cooperation partners.
- Provide regular market, regulatory, and technical feedback to global stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or comparable technical discipline
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in European electricity markets / power trading / balancing mechanisms and/or energy storage industry and/or renewables
- Strong experience working with or within Virtual Trading Parties (VTP) / licensed electricity suppliers / energy trading firms or aggregators
- Deep understanding of at least one key market: Netherlands (e.g. TenneT balancing market), Germany (e.g. EPEX Spot, ancillary services)
- Familiarity with: VPP / Decentral Energy Resources (DER) aggregation, API-based dispatch / remote control systems
- Strong understanding of European regulatory frameworks and licensing requirements (e.g., EEG, EnWG, EPEX, TOR, CE, EN)
- Existing network with installers, traders, aggregators, utilities, or DSOs/TSOs in Europe
Technical Competencies
- Experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable integration
- Experience with energy management systems and system interoperability
- Structured and documentation-oriented working style
Languages
- German (native or near-native level)
- English (business fluent)
- Mandarin or other languages is an advantage but not required
