We're currently looking for an experienced Defect Management Engineer to support the commissioning phase of a major industrial project in Lower Saxony, Germany.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers with experience in plant engineering, industrial construction, commissioning, quality management, or mechanical completion who enjoy solving technical challenges, coordinating stakeholders, and working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

📍 Location: Lower Saxony, Germany (Primarily on-site)

📅 Start: ASAP

⏳ Duration: 12 months (extension possible)

🏠 Remote: Up to 40% possible

💼 Contract: Freelance

Your Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the defect management process for critical industrial plant components
• Maintain and monitor defect (punch) lists
• Perform quality inspections during construction and commissioning
• Identify, document, and track technical issues through to resolution
• Coordinate corrective actions with contractors, suppliers, and project teams
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation
• Monitor progress and provide regular status updates to stakeholders

What We're Looking For

✔ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering

✔ At least 2 years' experience in industrial plant engineering or large industrial projects

✔ Experience in one or more of the following:

• Commissioning
• Construction
• Quality Management
• Defect Management
• Mechanical Completion

✔ Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

✔ Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams

✔ High safety awareness

✔ German (C1/C2)

✔ English (C1)

✔ Willingness to work primarily on-site
