Our client is a leading global hedge fund seeking a Junior Fundamental Credit Analyst to join its growing Credit Investment team. This individual will work directly with senior Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts to conduct fundamental research across investment grade, high yield, leveraged loans, and special situations. The role offers significant exposure to the full investment process, from idea generation through portfolio construction and ongoing risk management.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly analytical, and passionate about financial markets, with strong financial modeling skills and a desire to build a long-term career on the buy side.
Responsibilities
- Perform fundamental credit research on corporate issuers across multiple industries.
- Build and maintain detailed three-statement financial models, credit models, and valuation analyses.
- Analyze financial statements, capital structures, liquidity profiles, debt documentation, and covenant packages.
- Evaluate earnings results, SEC filings, rating agency reports, industry trends, and macroeconomic developments.
- Conduct relative value analysis across bonds, loans, CDS, and other credit instruments.
- Prepare detailed investment memoranda and present investment recommendations to Portfolio Managers and the investment committee.
- Monitor existing portfolio positions and identify emerging risks or investment opportunities.
- Assist with portfolio construction, position sizing, and risk monitoring.
- Participate in meetings with company management teams, sell-side analysts, banks, and industry experts.
- Work closely with traders, risk management, and operations to support investment execution.
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of experience in Investment Banking, Leveraged Finance, Credit Research, Ratings, Private Credit, or Asset Management.
- Strong financial statement analysis and financial modeling skills.
- Understanding of corporate finance, capital structures, and credit markets.
- Experience analyzing corporate debt, leveraged loans, high yield bonds, or investment grade issuers.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- CFA progress or interest is preferred.
