Indexed description

The Town of Cokeville, a small rural community in Lincoln County, Wyoming, is welcoming full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member to build lasting organizational capacity that reduces barriers to opportunity for community members experiencing economic hardship. This is community-wide capacity-building work grounded in Cokeville's Strategic Action Plan, not a direct-service or business-support role. Over a one-year term, the VISTA member will develop systems, tools, and procedures that town leadership and volunteers can sustain after the term ends. Priorities include: building grant-development infrastructure — a grant research system, funding calendar, prospect database, and tracking tools — for staff to maintain; developing a food-access resource and referral system, including resource guides and partnership procedures, that strengthens long-term access for low-income residents; piloting volunteer recruitment and training resources and materials that outlast any single term of service; building communications infrastructure — newsletter templates, a social media content calendar, and reusable outreach materials — for staff use; and developing regional partnership-building procedures that bring additional support into the community. Ideal candidates are self-starters with strong written and interpersonal communication skills, comfort working independently in a small-town setting, and genuine interest in rural community and economic development. No specialized background is required. VISTA members receive a modest living allowance, health coverage, training and professional development, and an education award or cash stipend at the completion of service. This is a meaningful opportunity to gain hands-on experience in grant development, capacity building, and community-driven systems change while making a lasting difference in a close-knit Wyoming town. Applications are reviewed by the Town of Cokeville. Learn more or apply through this listing.
