Chief Nursing Officer
Indexed description
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Nursing Officer holds group-wide accountability for clinical care, regulatory compliance, quality and workforce performance across every centre, protecting outstanding, resident-centred care while building a strong, sustainable operating model.
As this is a national role with extensive travel across all sites in both the ROI and Northern Ireland, it is preferred the candidate would be centrally located in Ireland, but this can be discussed on a case by case basis.
What You Will Lead
- Clinical governance and quality – across all centres, with the highest standards of resident care and safety.
- Regulatory compliance – full compliance and continuous inspection-readiness across both the HIQA (Republic of Ireland) and RQIA (Northern Ireland) regimes.
- Workforce and rostering – efficient, safe staffing and a financially sustainable workforce model.
- Employee relations – constructive engagement with staff and unions providing stability in periods of change.
- Operational leadership – supporting and developing Persons in Charge and clinical teams across multiple sites.
- Assurance to the Board – clear clinical governance reporting to the CEO, sub-committees and Board.
- A Registered Nurse with active NMBI registration and significant senior leadership experience in residential care for older people.
- Proven multi-site or group-level leadership, with a track record of achieving and sustaining regulatory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of HIQA (and ideally RQIA) regulatory frameworks.
- Strong financial, budgetary and workforce-planning acumen.
- Experience of industrial relations and union engagement.
- Credible, values-led leadership and excellent communication skills.
