🚀 Founding QA Engineer – LedgerPro (AI Native Accounting Platform)
Own quality. Build the suite. Make sure the numbers are always right.
WHO WE ARE
We're building LedgerPro (ledgerpro.ai · ledger.lk · ledger.co.id) — the Cursor / Claude Code for accounting firms.
Accounting firms are facing the same shift software companies already went through: value is moving from the mechanical work (bookkeeping, tax/audit prep, regulatory filings) to the value-added work (interpretation, consultation, customer relationship management). Firms that embrace this will thrive. Firms that don't will struggle to justify their fees.
That shift is landing on top of brutal headwinds already hitting the profession — fewer young people entering it, firm owners looking to retire, more back-office work offshored every year, and PE-backed consolidation accelerating.
The legacy software firms lean on is bloated, slow to adapt, has bolted-on AI that's either prohibitively expensive or embarrassingly inaccurate, and gets 10-20% more expensive every year. We're AI-first, affordable, and built with local compliance baked in — live in Sri Lanka, launching soon in the UK 🇬🇧, Indonesia 🇮🇩, and Canada 🇨🇦.
We're owning the full stack: from the bookkeeping/ledger layer (replacing Intuit QuickBooks / Xero) to practice management, to tax/audit/filing prep. One tool. One source of truth. One low price.
We've proven people will pay, and we're live with paying customers whose accounting data is irreplaceable. Every release now touches real money — that's where you come in.
🧠 WHO YOU ARE
You're a quality-obsessed operator — someone who runs toward "how would this break?" instead of away from it.
You love:
• treating test coverage like a real engineering discipline, not a checkbox at the end of a sprint
• turning a fuzzy accounting workflow into a precise set of edge cases — rounding at the cent, period-close races, partial refunds, FX drift
• using AI tools to generate and stress-test coverage fast, while staying suspicious of tests that look thorough but verify nothing
• sitting in on design reviews and PRs and catching the gap before it ships, not after a customer finds it
• building test infrastructure — pyramids, fixtures, CI gates — that people actually want to use because it's fast and clear
• being the person who says "not yet" to a release, and means it
You might be early in your career with strong fundamentals and insane drive, or you may have several years of QA, SDET, or test-engineering experience. What matters is that you want to own quality end-to-end — every test traceable to a real failure mode, every release defended on purpose.
🚀 WHAT YOU'LL DO
Months 0-1 — Learn & Absorb
• Get fluent in our stack, our test pyramid, and the accounting domain — double-entry bookkeeping, multi-currency, tax rules, depreciation, bank reconciliation
• Audit the existing test suite: coverage gaps, flaky tests, slow suites, mocking anti-patterns
• Shadow releases end to end to see where quality currently gets caught — or doesn't
Months 2-6 — Build the Suite
• Close coverage gaps across the pyramid — property-based invariants, unit, integration, multi-step workflow, and E2E smoke
• Own the accounting-correctness gate: every invoice, bill, payment, journal, and bank-rec workflow reconciles all four financial reports before it ships
• Run pre-release verification and sign off on anything touching money, tenancy, or auth
Months 7-12 — Set the Standard
• Turn the audit into a prioritized testing-infrastructure roadmap, with a real point of view on where AI-assisted test generation and mutation testing raise the floor — and where they don't
• Advocate for QA practices across the team — push testing left into design reviews, not just CI logs
• Become the reason a shipped bug can't happen the same way twice
✔️ MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years in QA or SDET roles, with real ownership of test strategy — not just executing someone else's test plan
• Comfortable reading and writing production code (TypeScript ideal) well enough to write integration tests against a real API
• Experience testing systems where correctness is non-negotiable: fintech, payments, healthcare, or anything with an audit trail and a regulator behind it
• Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals (debits, credits, the accounting equation) — or the demonstrated ability to go deep on a technical domain fast
• A track record of building a test strategy from a low- or no-coverage baseline, not just maintaining one that was already mature
• A real, hands-on point of view on AI-assisted development and what it means for how test suites should be written, reviewed, and trusted
⭐ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Property-based testing experience (fast-check or similar)
• Experience with double-entry accounting systems specifically
• Playwright or comparable E2E tooling
• A track record of writing internal testing standards that engineers actually follow
💼 WHAT WE OFFER
• Founding-level equity and a direct line to engineering leadership
• A blank page — you set the testing standard, not inherit someone else's
• A live product with real revenue and real customer data to protect
• A path to growing the QA function as we scale into the UK, Indonesia, Canada, and beyond
