QA Automation Engineer I
Indexed description
Your Impact:
As a QA Automation Engineer I, you will contribute to the quality of our cloud-native applications by creating and maintaining automated checks for critical product flows across UI and API layers. You will strengthen release confidence, reduce manual regression effort, and help the team catch issues earlier in the development lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who already understands testing fundamentals, has hands-on automation experience, and is ready to grow into a stronger quality engineering contributor through structured mentorship and practical ownership.
What You’ll Do:
- Build, update, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript) for core UI and API test scenarios.
- Contribute to the existing automation framework by following established patterns, naming conventions, and code quality standards.
- Write clean, readable, and reusable test code with basic documentation so others can understand and maintain it.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, and distinguish product defects from test issues with support when needed.
- Assist with test coverage for new features, regression areas, and high-risk user journeys.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA teammates to clarify requirements and identify test scenarios early.
- Perform API validation for REST endpoints using Playwright, Postman, or similar tools.
- Support CI execution of test suites in GitHub Actions or similar pipelines and help investigate unstable runs.
- Use logs, browser traces, and debugging tools to troubleshoot failed tests and basic environment issues.
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve automation quality and engineering practices.
- Contribute to manual and exploratory testing when automation is not the right immediate solution.
- Continuously improve your testing craft, product understanding, and automation skills through feedback and learning.
- 1–3 years of experience in software testing, with hands-on exposure to automation for web-based or SaaS products
- Practical experience with Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript for writing or maintaining automated tests
- Good understanding of testing fundamentals, including test case design, regression coverage, defect reporting, and risk-based thinking
- Basic understanding of automation concepts such as selectors, assertions, test data handling, reusable functions, and test structure
- Working knowledge of API testing for REST services using tools such as Playwright API testing or Postman
- Basic familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows such as GitHub Actions
- Ability to investigate straightforward test failures using logs, screenshots, traces, and developer tools
- Comfort working in a collaborative, cross-functional product environment
- Willingness to learn from feedback, ask good questions, and improve incrementally
- Good English communication skills for work
- Experience with Docker in local test execution or CI environments
- Familiarity with basic SQL and validating data in databases
- Exposure to observability or monitoring tools such as Datadog or CloudWatch
- Exposure to performance testing concepts or tools such as k6 or JMeter
- Experience testing e-commerce or SaaS platforms
- Interest in AI-assisted testing tools and productivity workflows
