What you will do
- Contribute to and further develop Sygnum’s financial risk frameworks, policies, methodologies and supporting tools, with particular responsibility for assigned financial risk areas.
- Provide independent oversight and challenge across financial risks, with particular focus on credit and collateral risk, counterparty risk and financial risk analytics, while contributing to oversight of liquidity, market and investment risks, including their interaction with operational, technology and regulatory risks.
- Define and monitor risk appetite, limits and key risk indicators, and escalate material exposures, breaches and control weaknesses.
- Develop, perform and independently challenge risk measurement, stress testing, scenario analysis and portfolio analytics, translating results into clear recommendations for senior management and governance bodies.
- Assess material new products, technologies, counterparties and business initiatives from a financial risk perspective, ensuring risks and controls are understood before approval.
- Act as a senior financial risk subject-matter expert at the Group Risk Committee for matters within the role’s areas of responsibility.
- Act as a senior Risk representative at RALB, providing independent challenge and financial risk expertise on matters within the role’s areas of responsibility.
- Advise and constructively challenge business functions, balancing commercial objectives with prudent risk management.
- Use appropriate AI-supported approaches in risk assessment, analytics, monitoring and reporting.
- Lead cross-functional risk initiatives, strengthen risk culture and provide subject-matter guidance to colleagues.
What you bring
- University degree in finance, economics, mathematics, quantitative finance, risk management or a related field.
- At least ten years of relevant experience in banking or financial services, including substantial financial risk experience within a regulated institution.
- In-depth expertise in one or more areas of financial risk, such as credit and collateral risk, counterparty risk, liquidity risk, investment risk or quantitative financial risk, combined with strong knowledge of banking products, front-to-back processes and the wider risk landscape.
- Proven experience developing risk frameworks, risk appetite, limits, stress testing and management reporting.
- Strong quantitative capabilities and experience applying financial risk analytics, stress testing, scenario analysis and/or risk models.
- Sound knowledge of Swiss banking regulation and experience engaging with regulators, internal audit or external audit.
- Strong judgement, leadership presence and the confidence to challenge, influence and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic, commercially aware and collaborative approach.
- Strong AI literacy, including effective use of approved tools and critical understanding of data, model, confidentiality, third-party and human oversight risks.
- Excellent written and verbal English; German is an advantage.
Nice to have
- Professional qualification such as FRM, CFA, PRM or an equivalent risk qualification.
- Experience in digital assets, blockchain-based financial services or other technology-driven financial products.
- Experience with quantitative risk models, data analytics, or risk technology.
