RESOURCE REQUIREMENT: Quality Assurance Lead – Insurance Platforms &

Release Governance

WORK MODE: Remote

TIME ZONE: Montreal Business Hours (9 AM – 5 PM EST)

EXPERIENCE: 8+ Years

Read This Before You Apply

This role is not for everyone. Before you apply, ask yourself these five questions honestly.

1. Have you worked on the client side of vendor-managed releases?

Your job is to receive releases from external vendors and decide whether they are safe to go live. If most of your experience is testing software your own organization built, this is a fundamentally different discipline.

2. Are you comfortable being the only QA person in the organization?

There is no team. No colleague to escalate to. No senior to review your work. You define the process and you execute it. If you have spent your career in structured QA teams with divided responsibilities, be honest about whether you can operate alone.

3. Can you work directly under a technical leader who will not explain what good looks like?

Your manager has run QA functions herself. She will give you direction and expectations, not a playbook. She needs someone who hears the problem and independently knows what steps one, two, and three look like.

4. Is governance and release discipline your primary strength — not automation?

Automation matters here, but it is not the job. If your primary identity is as an automation engineer who also knows some insurance, this is probably not the right fit.

5. Do you have both health insurance domain experience and Salesforce testing experience?

Both are mandatory. Not preferred, not advantageous — mandatory. If you do not have both, please do not apply.

If you answered yes to all five, we want to hear from you.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

About the Role

We are hiring a Quality Assurance Lead to establish and mature QA governance, release validation, regression strategy, and testing practices across a fast-growing insurance organization’s enterprise platforms and vendor ecosystem. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on improving release quality, production readiness, testing governance, and operational stability across a complex SaaS-driven insurance technology landscape.

The role combines:

  • Operational QA leadership
  • Vendor release coordination
  • Regression governance
  • Functional & performance testing oversight
  • Progressive automation strategy
  • The successful candidate will standardize testing processes, coordinate release validation activities, improve production readiness, and progressively introduce reusable regression and automation capabilities across integrated insurance platforms and customer-facing systems.

You will work across:

  • Insurance administration platforms
  • Salesforce-integrated ecosystems
  • Broker & customer portals
  • APIs and third-party integrations
  • Vendor-delivered releases
  • Enterprise SaaS platforms

Operating Model & Expectations

This role is ideal for a hands-on QA leader who enjoys building and executing simultaneously. The successful candidate will initially operate as the primary QA owner within the organization, taking responsibility for both establishing QA governance and personally driving key testing and release activities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Defining QA strategy, processes, and quality standards
  • Executing and coordinating regression validation activities
  • Leading release readiness and production validation efforts
  • Managing defect triage and quality risk assessments
  • Supporting UAT and business validation activities
  • Building scalable QA practices while remaining actively involved in day-to-day execution

This is a player-coach role where strategic leadership and hands-on delivery are equally important. As the organization grows, there may be opportunities to expand QA capabilities and team structures, but the initial expectation is strong individual ownership and execution.

Key Responsibilities

QA Governance & Testing Strategy

  • Define and implement standardized QA processes, governance frameworks, and testing practices
  • Establish testing approaches for:

o Functional testing

o Integration testing

o Performance testing

o Regression testing (manual & automated)

  • Define QA metrics, release quality indicators, defect tracking standards, and traceability practices
  • Improve visibility into release readiness, testing coverage, production stability, and release risks
  • Help establish scalable QA governance foundations for a growing technology ecosystem

Vendor Release Validation & Regression Governance

  • Review vendor release notes and perform impact analysis across business workflows, integrations, and platforms
  • Coordinate release validation activities across multiple systems and vendors
  • Define and execute risk-based regression testing strategies
  • Prioritize business-critical workflows for reusable regression coverage
  • Coordinate production readiness, release signoff, and go-live validation activities
  • Improve release quality gates, defect management processes, and deployment validation standards
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, defects, releases, and regression coverage

Insurance Platform & Workflow Quality

Own testing governance across critical insurance workflows including:

  • Quote / Bind / Issue
  • Claims workflows
  • Billing & invoicing
  • Renewals & endorsements
  • Broker/member portal functionality
  • Salesforce-integrated workflows
  • API and platform integrations

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating functional, integration, regression, and non-functional testing activities
  • Improving workflow reliability and production stability
  • Supporting testing discipline across customer-facing and operational platforms
  • Collaborating with business, product, engineering, and vendor teams to improve release quality

Automation & Non-Functional Testing

  • Progressively introduce practical automation capabilities for stable and repetitive regression scenarios
  • Define automation approaches balancing:

o Business value

o Maintenance effort

o Release frequency

  • Establish baseline performance and non-functional testing approaches for critical workflows and integrations
  • Support long-term regression optimization and release efficiency improvements

Required Experience

Must-Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in QA / Test Management / QA Governance roles
  • Strong insurance domain experience
  • Experience with:

o Policy lifecycle workflows

  • Experience with insurance administration platforms such as:

o CoverGo

o Guidewire

o EIS

o Majesco

o Similar insurance ecosystems

  • Experience in SaaS/vendor-driven environments
  • Exposure to performance and non-functional testing
  • Moderate-to-strong automation capability
  • Experience introducing scalable regression automation practices

The Right Profile

  • You understand that quality in a SaaS and vendor-driven ecosystem requires:

o Structured release governance

o Strong regression discipline

o Practical business understanding

o Operational coordination

  • You are pragmatic, organized, and capable of progressively maturing QA practices within a growing insurance technology environment.
  • You are comfortable coordinating across multiple vendors, systems, workflows, and stakeholders while improving release quality and production readiness at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in hands-on QA leadership roles
  • Ability and willingness to function as an individual contributor while establishing QA processes and governance
  • Experience working within lean or evolving delivery organizations

Why Join

This is an opportunity to shape and mature QA governance within a rapidly evolving insurance technology environment operating across multiple systems, vendors, and integrated platforms.
