Information Security Engineer

We are seeking an experienced F5 Network Security Administrator to manage and secure our F5 network infrastructure, including BIG-IP, BIG-IQ, and F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, traffic management, and advanced network-layer protection features such as the Advanced Firewall Manager (AFM), DNS security, and network-layer DDoS mitigation.

Day in the Life of the Information Security Engineer:

Administration & Maintenance:

• Configure, deploy, and maintain F5 BIG-IP and BIG-IQ services.
• Manage F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) components for global application delivery and security.
• Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure system stability and compliance.

Network Security & Firewall Management

• Create, update, and maintain network security policies, including Advanced Firewall Manager (AFM) configurations.
• Configure and monitor network-layer DDoS protection across F5 platforms.
• Implement and manage IP Intelligence and network reputation-based traffic controls.
• Manage SSL/TLS termination, certificate lifecycle, and secure traffic delivery.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Monitor system health, performance, and security alerts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to traffic management, SSL/TLS, and application availability.
• Provide root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications - About you:

Technical Expertise

• Hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP modules (LTM, AFM, DNS, APM).
• Experience with advanced network security features such as IP Intelligence and network firewall policies.
• Familiarity with BIG-IQ for centralized management and analytics.
• Knowledge of F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) services and architecture.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSL/TLS, BGP/routing fundamentals).

Security Focus

• Experience configuring network firewall policies (AFM), IP Intelligence, and network-layer DDoS mitigation.
• Understanding of network security best practices and traffic threat mitigation.

Other Requirements

• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or iRules) for automation and customization.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Highly Preferred:

• F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or F5 Certified Solution Expert (CSE).
• Experience with cloud integrations (AWS, Azure, GCP) and API-based automation.
• Experience in administering Application Security and CNAPP tools (Veracode/SonarQube/Wiz).
• Exposure to WAF/ASM or application security concepts.
