Role Description The Information Technology System Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Brandon, MB. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, workstations, and related infrastructure, while ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring networks and systems, performing regular backups and updates, managing user accounts and permissions, and responding to technical support requests from internal stakeholders. The System Administrator will troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues, coordinate with vendors when necessary, and document configurations, procedures, and changes for future reference. The role also involves implementing best practices for cybersecurity, assisting with IT projects and upgrades, and contributing to continuous improvement of IT processes and tools.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong System Administration skills, including server management, operating system configuration, and user account administration.
  • Candidates should possess Network Administration skills, such as managing switches, routers, firewalls, and basic network security and performance monitoring.
  • Candidates should possess Technical Support and Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues efficiently.
  • Candidates should possess foundational Information Technology knowledge, including IT infrastructure, security principles, and standard tools and protocols.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft, Cisco) and experience with Windows and/or Linux environments are beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively on-site, and effective organization and time management are expected.
  • Experience in implementing backup strategies, patch management, and basic cybersecurity controls is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
