Overview Of The Systems Administrator Position
A growing and technology-driven organization is seeking a Systems Administrator to play a key role in supporting, optimizing, and securing a complex enterprise IT infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale modernization initiatives, lead critical infrastructure projects, and influence the future direction of the organization's technology environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical expert with deep experience in Microsoft technologies, virtualization, systems security, and enterprise infrastructure. This individual will serve as a seasoned resource within the IT team, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and driving continuous improvement across systems and operations.
Key Responsibilities Of The Systems Administrator
- Implement and maintain security protocols, firewalls, and antivirus solutions.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Test recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Office 365 and Azure administration
- Proficiency with administrative task of Office 365 and configuration.
- Ability to deploy and maintain cloud services (servers, web applications, etc)
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and usage metrics.
- 3+ years of progressive Systems Administration experience in a mid-size to enterprise environment.
- Strong experience administering and supporting VMware virtual environments.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server administration, deployment, hardening, and troubleshooting.
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Defender, and Purview.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices.
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management.
- Proven ability to lead infrastructure projects and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Working knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Experience with endpoint security and EDR platforms such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Microsoft Defender.
- Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell or similar tools.
- Experience supporting backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity initiatives.
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- VMware VCP
- Security+
- Server+
- MCSE (legacy)
