IT System Administrator

We are seeking a talented System Administrator to join our IT department. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in maintaining and improving our infrastructure, from Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environments to on-premises IT networks. You'll work with our development team to support and enhance the systems that drive our business forward.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize secure AWS environments including networks, firewalls, web services, and databases.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Lead migration efforts from traditional EC2 instances to scalable containerized systems (ECS, EKS, Fargate).
- Administer AWS services such as IAM, EC2, RDS, Aurora, MySQL, S3, and more.
- Monitor and enhance the performance, security, and health of our AWS infrastructure.
- Support the design, installation, and maintenance of on-premises network infrastructure, including cabling, firewalls, switches, wireless, and VLANs.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft technologies, including Hyper-V, Windows Server, SQL Server, Active Directory, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Oversee and optimize our VoIP phone system, managing SIP trunks, call routing, and reporting.
- Administer backup and disaster recovery systems, with a focus on Veeam and ensuring business continuity.
- Provide escalated support for internal IT issues and collaborate with help desk staff for troubleshooting.
- Create and maintain documentation for all systems and processes.
- Mentor junior IT staff, assisting with training and professional development.
- Manage system maintenance during standard hours (8 am – 5 pm) with occasional after-hours work for system upgrades or fixes.
- Proficiency with AWS services: IAM, VPC, EC2, RDS, Aurora, S3, and ECS
- Strong experience with Ubuntu Linux servers running Nginx web services
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Hyper-V, Windows Server, SQL Server, Active Directory, SharePoint, and Teams
- Experience with VoIP phone systems, including SIP trunks and call routing
- Familiarity with backup solutions such as Veeam and disaster recovery processes
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Proven experience in mentoring and guiding junior staff
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator in a corporate environment, supporting the technologies mentioned above
