We are seeking a dedicated IT Support professional to provide technical assistance across Crown Bioscience's European operations, with a primary focus on the UK site.


The successful candidate will be the on-site IT presence at our UK location, responsible for resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining network infrastructure, and ensuring seamless IT operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in computer networking, operating systems and customer service to contribute to a dynamic team environment. The role will be full time and is ideal for someone with a passion for technology, great people skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You’ll be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries across the business, providing hands-on support and ensuring that our team can work efficiently and effectively every day.


Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for all IT support queries via phone, email, or in person.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end users.
  • Set up and configure desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding process, including account creation and device setup.
  • Escalate complex technical problems to the wider IT team when necessary.


Infrastructure & Networking

  • Configure and support network components including LAN, VPNs, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, etc.
  • Monitor network security measures such as firewalls and VPNs to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Assist with VoIP systems setup and troubleshooting.


Projects & Improvement

  • Champion the infrastructure audit: address technical debt, build backup procedures, reorganise Active Directory, and create IT documentation.
  • Support EU IT helpdesk and day-to-day maintenance and administration of the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) system at the UK site.
  • Assist with IT projects at the UK site, including the setup, connection, and troubleshooting of edge devices.
  • Support label printing services for IT projects and products.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to implement system upgrades and improvements.

Administration & Documentation

  • Help maintain accurate IT asset records and follow company IT policies and procedures.
  • Document technical procedures and solutions clearly for future reference.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • 1–2 years' experience in a similar IT support role
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts including LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, and VPNs
  • Experience with desktop support across Windows 10/11
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Microsoft Office suite and common applications
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Understanding of computer hardware components, upgrades, and maintenance
  • Analytical skills for diagnosing technical problems efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a busy environment
  • A proactive, resilient attitude with a willingness to learn


Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to Windows Server 2016, 2019, or 2022
  • Experience configuring or managing firewalls and switches
  • Basic familiarity with Linux (e.g. Ubuntu, CentOS) including command-line navigation and file management
  • Familiarity with VoIP systems
  • Experience with ITIL frameworks or ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Freshdesk, Jira Service Management)
  • Basic scripting skills, particularly PowerShell or Bash
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, AZ-900, or MS-900 — or willingness to work toward them
