The SCDMV is looking for a motivated and dedicated Titles & Registrations Specialist. The team at DMV values teamwork, commitment, and excellent customer service. This position is in the Vehicle Services/License Plate AOS Unit at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC.

Responsibilities Of The Titles & Registration Specialist II

  • Processes transactions for specialty license plates to include Personalized, Official, State Boards/Commissions and Confidential.
  • Responds to routine inquiries from customers by mail and modes of communication such as telephone, email and occasionally in person.
  • Advise customers on appropriate actions for payment, services and required documentation for transaction processing. Resolves customer issues and inquires through record research.
  • Uses SCDMV Phoenix system to enter, retrieve, update and provide data for customers, courts, and law enforcement. Provides support to SCDMV Branch Offices and other work units.
  • Reconciles transaction reports and maintain accurate cash drawer.
  • Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance. Prepares documents for scanning.
  • Opens and disseminates mail for Special Plate Unit.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

Agency Requirements

  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing.

Additional Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of state motor vehicle laws and regulations; in-depth knowledge of SCDMV titling and registration policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
  • Ability to exhibit initiative, sound judgment and logical thinking.
  • Must have exceptional customer service, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must effectively deal orally and in writing with internal/external customers to disseminate and obtain information.
  • Proficiency with the use of personal computer and MS Office products.
  • Employee works under general supervision, however, has moderate amount of independence and discretion.
  • Works in a climate-controlled office setting with significant time spent at a computer terminal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years related job experience.
