Do you want to help members of your community thrive? Are you a quick learner with strong communication and organizational skills? We are seeking highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff members to join our Benefits and Community Support (BCS) Division as Community Support Specialists!

A Community Support Specialist III provides case processing work to determine eligibility for the following programs: Long-Term Care (LTC) and/or, Adult Financial and Colorado Works (TANF). This position provides information, coordinates benefits, and determines initial and ongoing eligibility for applicants/recipients of multiple public assistance programs and services within Benefits and Community Support Division of The Department of Human Services. This position will require the applicant to be currently processing eligibility for SNAP and Medicaid for at least two years, and will be trained in LTC and/or Adult Financial and Colorado Works (TANF), if they have no prior training in these programs. This position provides referrals for related resources and services to collateral departments and agencies as appropriate and acts as a lead worker to review work and assist Community Support Specialists in determining eligibility and clarifying rules.

This is a hybrid position and requires at least one day/week in the office. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides a one-time remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces. You must submit three professional references with valid contact information as part of this application.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

  • Gathering, assembling, and review ing information submitted by applicants and recipients regarding financial and non-financial criteria relevant to the initial and continuing eligibility for LTC and/or Adult Financial and Colorado Works (TANF), Medicaid, SNAP, categorical assistance, and/or medical assistance.
  • Inform ing applicants/recipients of the relevant requirements and benefits of programs for which they may have eligibility; assists applicants with completing forms; secures documents; notifies applicants of appeal rights and procedures in response to notices generated by the computer.
  • Approv ing or denying applicants based upon review of case information promptly in accordance with state statutes.
  • Enter ing and updating case/client information to maintain computer database records.
  • Maintain ing assigned caseload under direct supervision and case review.
  • Review ing monthly change reports for ongoing eligibility and re-determining eligibility as required by applicable programs.
  • Calculat ing income and resources based on program rules and regulations.
  • Provid ing referrals for related resources and services to collateral departments and agencies as appropriate.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required for a Community Support Specialist I will be eliminated from the process.

  • Two (2) years' experience in a directly related field including one (1) year of experience equivalent to that of an Community Support Specialist II or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities in a human services program required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.

Supplemental Information

This hybrid position requires at least one in-office day per week and reliable internet for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual stipend for remote work expenses. The position will be based at one of the following locations:

  • 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO
  • 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO
  • 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO
