Customer Service Specialist - Home Oxygen DME Services

Position Title: Customer Service Specialist (CSR)

Location: Upland Hills Health - Platteville Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Store

Role & Department: Customer Service Specialist in the DME/Home Oxygen Service Department

Hours & Shift: Full-time (1.0 FTE) day shift position, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Role Responsibilities:

• Receives and generates request from referral sources and patients to provide medical equipment and/or supplies to patients
• Obtains and reviews the documentation within the medical record to determine payer qualifications are met for equipment and referrals
• This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills
• This person must have knowledge of insurance requirements and have the ability to determine medical justification through documentation to ensure proper reimbursement
• This person will assist and help clients who come into the DME store or call in for assistance and services
• This position will report to the DME Manager.
• Inbound and outbound calls to insurance companies
• Handling patient inquires both on the phone and in-person
• Confirming sales orders delivered for current month
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with medical billing would be beneficial, but not required
• Candidates should have wonderful customer service experience
• Experience with Bright Tree billing system software is very beneficial
• Candidate will also be required to effectively operate software necessary for the scope of this job description
• Prior healthcare experience is beneficial
• Knowledge of medical equipment and/or home oxygen services is beneficial
• Ability to learn and competently work with co-workers, referral sources and patients
• Ability to work with computer programs such as Health Link (EPIC) and Bright Tree software systems
• Proficient in medical terminology and abbreviations would be beneficial
• Previous experience with the Microsoft Office Suite software programs is beneficia
