Projects
California Injury Group, APC (CIG Law) is a growing personal injury law firm in Los Angeles. We built our own all-in-one practice platform in-house — CRM and case management, a complete VoIP phone system (web softphone + iOS and Android apps), SMS/MMS, fax, email pipelines, e-signature, trust accounting, and AI-powered document processing. The entire firm runs on it every day.
You'll be our first full-time engineer, working directly with the firm's owner — no PM layer, no ticket bureaucracy. The product has real daily users (our staff) who report bugs and request features constantly, so your work ships fast and gets used immediately.
The stack: Go backend (REST API, PostgreSQL, Redis, webhook-driven telephony), Next.js/React/TypeScript web, React Native (Expo) with CallKit and VoIP push, Telnyx Call Control/WebRTC/SMS/fax, Microsoft 365 integrations, LLM pipelines (Anthropic), Linux/PM2/Caddy/S3 infrastructure.
Job functions
- Fix bugs at the root cause: triage reports from live users, trace them through the full stack, and fix the underlying problem — not the symptom.
- Harden reliability: improve test coverage, observability, and error handling across a system built at high velocity.
- Ship features: case-opening automation, workflow tooling, telephony improvements, AI-assisted document workflows.
- Own production: deploys, database migrations, and occasional on-call for critical issues.
Conditions
- USD $3,500–$5,500/month depending on experience (full-time contractor).
- Fully remote, long-term position; direct hire with no agency in the middle.
- Hiring process: application with screening questions → 30-minute video call → paid trial project (about one week, a real item from our backlog, paid pro-rated at your monthly rate) → offer.
Desirable skills
- Telnyx or Twilio programmable voice/messaging experience.
- Expo native modules / config plugins.
- Experience building LLM-powered features.
- Legal, medical, or insurance domain exposure.
