Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Technician/Administrative Support Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA OC/EUROPE.

Duties

  • Serves as a senior cyber defense infrastructure support specialist and systems administrator.
  • Develops and implements systems, diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required to support organizational objectives.
  • Manages and administers Active Directory components on Domain Controllers. Manages the creation, modification, implementation and review of group policies and vulnerability patches securing the cyber defense infrastructure.
  • Evaluates and recommends selection of new cyber defense infrastructure systems diagnostic tools. Manages the development and installation of software and hardware, systems fix, updates and enhancements.
  • Installs and configure commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) cyber defense applications and software/hardware enhancement products.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions AND Qualifying Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess qualifying experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Developing standards and criteria for assessing server performance, availability, capacity or configuration problems OR evaluating and recommending selection of new cyber defense infrastructure systems diagnostic tools. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.? Education

There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. Current competitive service employees who accept an overseas Cyber Excepted Service (CES) position or convert into an overseas CES position are not entitled to statutory return rights. Administrative return rights may still be granted at the discretion of the losing DoD Agency. Employees without administrative return rights will, at the end of their overseas tour, be subject to placement through the DoD Priority Placement Program. Military Spouse Preference (MSP)/Family Member Preference (FMP) - Candidates claiming MSP/(FMP) must include a copy of sponsor's permanent change of station orders authorizing movement of spouse to the overseas command or other appropriated documentation that support the preference. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting the preference. Family members of locally hired DoD civilian employees are not eligible for Family Member Preference. This position is subject to the limitations imposed by the DOD Priority Placement Program.
