About Origin Sustainables
Origin Sustainables is a Canadian supplier and importer of sustainable foodservice packaging for multi-unit restaurant groups, QSR brands, and enterprise customers across Canada.
We are not a catalogue packaging distributor. Much of our work involves complex custom programs: sourcing, product specs, samples, supplier quotes, MOQs, lead times, quality checks, freight, inventory planning, broadline distributor requirements, and rollout details that all need to line up before we commit to a customer.
We work directly with restaurant brands while often fulfilling through broadline distributors and other channel partners. The complexity makes the work interesting, but also sensitive to details. A good customer program requires clear requirements, accurate assumptions, disciplined follow-through, and tight coordination across sales, sourcing, pricing, operations, logistics, and supply chain.
About the Role
We are hiring a Commercial Solutions Manager to help turn customer requests and account opportunities into clear, executable, and commercially sound programs. The role sits between customer needs, account strategy, sourcing, pricing, operations, logistics, supply chain, and implementation.
This role owns the execution of solutions development and implementation: clarifying what needs to happen, aligning the right internal owners, tracking commitments, escalating risks, and keeping customer work moving with urgency and precision. The goal is to help us deliver what we have promised, avoid preventable misses, and give customers a more responsive and consistent experience working with us.
This is a customer-facing commercial execution role. It is not a traditional sales hunter role, and it is not an order desk or administrative support role. You will work directly with customers where needed to clarify requirements, gather missing information, coordinate details, and keep active work moving, while account owners remain responsible for the overall customer relationship and commercial direction.
Success in this role means we are more responsive and easier for customers to work with. Customer opportunities move forward faster, internal teams have clearer information, proposals are better prepared, and follow-through is more reliable.
What You Will Do
Customer Intake and Scoping
- Run structured intake for customer requests, account initiatives, RFQs/RFPs, new SKU opportunities, distributor requirements, and rollout projects.
- Clarify what the customer is trying to solve, including priorities such as cost, quality, speed, supply reliability, sustainability, brand presentation, distributor fit, launch timing, or another business need.
- Engage directly with customers and account owners to clarify requirements, including product specs, samples, volumes, timelines, delivery locations, distributor/DC requirements, service expectations, and decision timing.
- Establish what information is needed before sourcing, pricing, operations, supply chain, or logistics begins work.
- Turn unclear customer or sales requests into practical internal briefs that outline what we know, what is missing, key assumptions, options to explore, pricing scenarios to consider, owners, next steps, and required decisions.
Solutions Development and Internal Execution
- Own the execution path for customer solutions from scoping through proposal, approval, implementation, and follow-through.
- Coordinate internal owners across Sourcing, Pricing, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, and leadership so active customer work keeps moving.
- Work across internal teams to validate product options, supplier constraints, costs, margins, inventory exposure, fulfillment assumptions, rollout timing, and execution risks.
- Keep one clear view of active customer work, including open items, deadlines, owners, assumptions, approvals, risks, decisions, commitments, and next steps.
- Push for clarity when requests are incomplete, assumptions do not line up, ownership is unclear, or the proposed path could create pricing, sourcing, inventory, service, or implementation issues.
Customer Materials and Follow-Up
- Prepare and coordinate customer proposals, RFQ/RFP responses, quote summaries, savings summaries, rollout plans, meeting materials, and follow-up notes.
- Review customer-facing materials for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and alignment with approved assumptions before they are shared externally.
- Support customer meetings with agendas, preparation, meeting notes, action summaries, decision logs, and follow-up materials.
- Coordinate customer follow-up throughout the process, including missing information, sample requirements, project updates, implementation details, and next steps, while keeping account owners and leadership aligned.
- Track customer commitments and follow-up items so account owners, leadership, and internal teams have a clear view of what has been promised and what still needs to happen.
Risk Control and Process Improvement
- Keep key account follow-up organized, including action items, approvals, escalations, renewal/deadline reminders, meeting cadence, decisions, and next steps.
- Identify missing information, pricing concerns, inventory risk, service issues, operational constraints, or implementation gaps before commitments are made externally.
- Lead coordination for new customer programs, new SKUs, customer transitions, distributor setup, and account initiatives.
- Help build repeatable workflows, templates, checklists, trackers, and handoff processes so customer work becomes more visible and less dependent on memory or informal follow-up.
This role owns customer opportunity intake, internal scoping, coordination, execution planning, documentation, follow-through, and key action tracking. The role is expected to identify risks, challenge unclear assumptions, and push for the right internal review before external commitments are made. Final commercial decisions remain with leadership, account owners, and the appropriate functional owners.
What We Are Looking For
The strongest candidates will be commercially curious, operationally disciplined, and comfortable working in the messy middle between customers and internal execution. They should be able to manage details without becoming purely administrative, communicate with customers without trying to own every relationship, and push internal work forward with pace and precision without needing formal authority over every function involved.
- 5+ years of experience in customer solutions, account management, commercial operations, implementation, project coordination, sales operations, client service, or another B2B role with meaningful customer and internal coordination.
- High ownership. You do not wait passively for others to respond, and you are comfortable closing loops without being asked repeatedly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn unclear requests into clear action plans, owner lists, timelines, scenario requirements, and decision points.
- Strong organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and comfort managing multiple moving pieces without losing urgency, accuracy, or ownership.
- Practical business judgment and the ability to think through customer, cost, timing, sourcing, inventory, and execution tradeoffs.
- Ability to understand the customer need well enough to direct internal work efficiently, not just pass messages between teams.
- Comfort working with quotes, pricing inputs, spreadsheets, customer data, commercial assumptions, timelines, implementation details, reports, dashboards, trackers, and CRM/ERP systems.
- Confidence to push for clarity and accountability in a respectful but firm way, including slowing the process down when needed to prevent bad commitments while still maintaining customer responsiveness.
- Comfort operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where processes are still being built and improved.
- Comfortable working full-time in office in Vancouver.
Strong Assets
- Experience in packaging, foodservice, distribution, sourcing, procurement, logistics, wholesale, manufacturing, importing, or another B2B operating environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise, multi-location, QSR, restaurant, retail, hospitality, or foodservice customers.
- Experience working with broadline distributors, distributor DC requirements, channel fulfillment models, imported goods, overseas production timelines, samples, MOQs, supplier quotes, or supplier lead times.
- Experience coordinating customer programs involving sourcing, pricing, inventory planning, logistics, implementation, proposals, RFQ/RFP responses, QBRs, or commercial summaries.
- Experience working with pricing, margin, landed cost, inventory, distributor fulfillment, customer onboarding, workflows, checklists, trackers, templates, or internal operating processes.
- Familiarity with CRM or ERP systems such as NetSuite.
- French language skills are an asset.
Why Join Origin?
This is a hands-on role on a small team where the work will be visible and important. You will be involved in real customer opportunities, not narrow back-office support, and you will get broad exposure to enterprise customers, account strategy, sourcing, pricing, supply chain, logistics, operations, finance, and leadership.
For the right person, this is a chance to help shape how customer work gets done at Origin, from initial customer need through sourcing, pricing, approval, implementation, and ongoing follow-through. This role is a strong fit for someone who wants more than a narrow coordination job, but who also understands that strong commercial execution depends on details, ownership, follow-through, and cross-functional discipline.
