Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit. Overview This is a pro-bono volunteer position. JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls. We are seeking a creative and innovative Curriculum Designer / Curriculum Writer to develop engaging and educational materials for middle school students. The main objective of this role is to design a comprehensive and age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with our organization's mission and educational goals. Responsibilities - Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to identify learning objectives and content requirements. - Design curriculum modules, lesson plans, and teaching materials for various STEM subjects, ensuring they are age-appropriate and aligned with educational standards. - Create interactive and hands-on activities that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity in students. - Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences. Review and edit existing curriculum materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and effectiveness. - Develop specialized curriculum modules focusing on cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, designed to engage and challenge middle school students. - Work with the Education Team to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the designed curriculum. - Provide support and training to educators and volunteers on the effective use of the curriculum materials. - Stay up-to-date with developments in the education field and make continuous improvements to the curriculum. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field. - Proven experience in curriculum design and development, particularly for middle school students. - Knowledge of STEM education principles and best practices. - Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create clear and concise educational content. - Proficiency in using technology for curriculum development, including digital tools and software. - Creativity and the ability to design engaging and interactive learning materials. - Strong organizational and project management skills. - Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, able to work effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts. - Understanding of educational standards and assessment methods. - Must commit to 5-7 Hours a week for 6 months This is a pro-bono volunteer position.
