About Job

Associate Software Engineer, Chennai

Our NielsenIQ Technology teams are working on revamping multiple platform, a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on NielsenIQ’s data and insights to innovate and grow. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance Java applications and backend services using Java and related frameworks. 
  • Write clean, readable, and maintainable code following established coding standards and best practices. 
  • Implement well-defined features and enhancements based on functional and technical requirements with guidance from senior engineers. 
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs, understanding basic client-server communication and HTTP concepts. 
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. 
  • Participate in code reviews and learn modern software engineering practices. 
  • Write and execute unit tests to ensure application quality and reliability. 
  • Work with relational databases to create and optimize basic SQL queries and data access components. 
  • Work with No SQL databases to create and optimize basic No SQL queries and data access components. 
  • Debug and resolve application issues using logs, debugging tools, and structured troubleshooting approaches. 
  • Use version control systems such as Git for source code management, branching, and collaboration. 
  • Work within existing CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying applications. 
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality. 
  • Continuously learn modern technologies, frameworks, cloud concepts, and engineering best practices. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Java. 
  • Exposure to Spring Boot through academic projects, internships, certifications, or personal projects. 
  • Familiarity with design patterns such as Factory, Singleton, and Observer. 
  • Basic understanding of Spring Data JPA or ORM concepts. 
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito. 
  • Exposure to API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI. 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. 
  • Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker. 
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. 
  • Basic awareness of secure coding practices and OWASP security principles. 
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar coding assistants.
