As a Telephonist at The Merrion, you will:
- Operate the switchboard and paging system effectively and to hotel standards.
- Anticipate guest needs to deliver five-star service and enhance guest satisfaction.
- Fulfil all guest requests, including wake-up calls, do-not-disturb requests, credit card calls, and reverse charge calls.
- Handle guest enquiries, calls, emails, and messages efficiently and courteously.
- Acknowledge all guests with a warm, professional greeting, using their name where possible.
- Liaise effectively with all departments to ensure smooth communication across the hotel.
- Maintain stationery stocks and requisition supplies as required.
- Ensure the switchboard and emergency phone are covered at all times.
- Handle Lost & Found queries in line with hotel and security policies.
- Support colleagues and complete duties as outlined in daily shift checklists.
- Have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
- Be professional, courteous, and guest-focused, with a positive and helpful attitude.
- Possess strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet guest and business needs.
- Be confident working both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a telephonist, call handling, or customer service role is an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
- Approximately 39 hours per week.
