Purpose/Description-
Job Description
- Responsible for multiple phases of billing process and to ensure acceptable cash flow and appropriate days in receivable by timely follow-up and resolution of balances owed by insurance companies and patients.
- High School diploma, or equivalent.
- Minimum of (1) one year experience in a medical setting, data entry of hospital and clinical financial system preferred. Formal training of college coursework in lieu of experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of insurance processes, collection procedures and regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of computers
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Must be proficient in 10 - key by touch and keyboarding skills.
- Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
- Responsible for daily account follow up.
- Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
- Research and resolve credit balances, missing payments, and unposted cash as appropriate.
- Responds and maintains correspondence.
- Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Communicates appropriately with insurance companies, patients, co-workers and supervisors
- Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and remedy expediently.
- Meets minimum productive standards and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
