Job Description:
The Member Service Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for members and providers by handling inbound inquiries, managing follow-up activities, and providing administrative support. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple systems while delivering timely, accurate service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle inbound calls while providing courteous and professional customer support.
- Resolve member and provider inquiries whenever possible during the first interaction.
- Explain available benefits, services, and account information accurately.
- Maintain thorough documentation of customer interactions within internal systems.
- Respond to emails received through shared and assigned inboxes.
- Perform research and complete follow-up activities to ensure requests are resolved promptly.
- Initiate outbound communications when additional information or follow-up is required.
- Update case statuses and maintain accurate workflow records.
- Manage assigned tasks independently while meeting service level expectations.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve complex issues.
- Assist with call coverage during periods of increased volume.
- Identify recurring service trends and recommend opportunities to improve processes.
- Utilize internal technology and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and customer service.
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in customer service, call center, healthcare, insurance, or administrative support preferred.
- Experience using CRM, case management, ticketing, or similar software is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- High level of accuracy with documentation and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable learning new technology and navigating multiple computer systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset.
