Reports to: Global R&D / CTO Organization Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Organization Development
  • Lead the Electronics and Embedded Software Engineering organization and develop a strong, accountable and collaborative engineering culture.
  • Build the capabilities required for WIK's future product portfolio through recruitment, development, coaching and succession planning.
  • Conduct structured performance reviews, individual development planning and regular coaching of engineers and technical leaders.
  • Manage engineering capacity, workload and priorities across development programs.
  • Develop technical leaders and strengthen internal competence so that WIK can effectively control and challenge externally developed solutions.
  • Establish clear engineering expectations, methods, design-review discipline and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Lead electronic hardware development for global customer and product development programs from concept integration through industrialization.
  • Ensure robust circuit, PCB, power, interface and control-system design appropriate to product requirements.
  • Drive hardware design reviews, technical risk assessment, DFMEA, root-cause analysis and design optimization.
  • Ensure electronics are developed considering reliability, cost, manufacturability, energy efficiency, lifecycle, repairability and applicable sustainability requirements.
  • Support prototypes, engineering validation, pilot builds, production ramp-up and engineering changes.
  • Embedded Software & Firmware
  • Lead development and integration of embedded firmware and product-specific software.
  • Ensure disciplined software architecture implementation, coding, integration, debugging, configuration and version management.
  • Drive robust HW/FW interface management and structured resolution of system-level issues.
  • Implement reusable software modules and approved platform components into product programs.
  • Ensure software development supports diagnostics, serviceability, cybersecurity and lifecycle requirements where applicable.
  • Connectivity, IoT & Sensors
  • Integrate approved connectivity technologies including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cloud interfaces, mobile application interfaces and OTA update capabilities.
  • Lead product implementation of sensing technologies including temperature, pressure, flow, optical, capacitive and position sensing.
  • Ensure calibration, diagnostics, interfaces and system integration are robust and validated.
  • Support connected-product functionality in cooperation with relevant platform, software, cybersecurity and external technology partners.
  • Coffee, Beverage & Water Systems Integration
  • Lead electronics and embedded-software integration for increasingly complex coffee, beverage and water systems.
  • Support control and integration of pumps, valves, flow and pressure management, heating and cooling functions, water-treatment interfaces, sensors, diagnostics and hygiene-related functions.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Engineering and System Engineering to ensure complete electromechanical system performance rather than isolated component optimization.
  • Support technical troubleshooting of multidisciplinary system issues throughout development and industrialization.
  • Supplier & Partner Engineering
  • Provide technical leadership in the selection, qualification and development of electronics, software and technology suppliers.
  • Define technical requirements and conduct supplier design reviews, development monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Ensure supplier-developed hardware and software meet WIK engineering, quality, compliance, documentation and lifecycle expectations.
  • Maintain sufficient internal technical competence and ownership to control outsourced development and protect critical product know-how.
  • Engineering Excellence & Product Development
  • Ensure predictable execution of electronics and software deliverables against project scope, timing, quality and cost targets.
  • Implement and continuously improve engineering methods, standards, documentation, configuration management and lessons-learned practices.
  • Support System Experts and project teams during technical reviews, escalations and customer discussions.
  • Work with Validation to ensure designs are testable, evidence is available and issues are closed systematically before technical release.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering during production readiness, technical transfer and ramp-up.
  • Sustainability & Product Compliance by Design
  • Integrate applicable product compliance and sustainability requirements into electronics and software development from the earliest project phases.
  • Collaborate with Product Compliance on electrical safety, EMC, radio/connectivity, cybersecurity, environmental and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Drive energy-efficient design, component and material optimization, repairability, modularity, obsolescence management and responsible electronics lifecycle practices.
  • Ensure the engineering organization generates and maintains the technical evidence and documentation required for product compliance. Candidate Profile
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline.
  • Substantial experience in electronics and embedded-software product development, ideally in complex electromechanical consumer products, appliances, coffee, beverage or water systems.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary electronics and software engineering teams.
  • Strong track record in people development, performance management, recruitment and capability building.
  • Experience taking products from concept through validation, industrialization and mass production.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic hardware, embedded firmware, sensors, connectivity and system integration.
  • Experience managing external development partners and suppliers while retaining internal technical control.
  • Good understanding of product safety, EMC, regulatory compliance, cybersecurity and sustainable electronics development.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause-analysis capability, with a hands-on engineering mindset.
  • Experience working in global and multicultural engineering organizations; China and international customer experience are highly valued.
  • Fluent English; Chinese language capability is an advantage.
