We are looking for a talented In-Shop Diesel Technician - Level III to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Memphis, TN .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Complete troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop.
- Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, including utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work.
- Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
- Completing required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
- Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
- Adhere to all our relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
Applies documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools Disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble engines and /or engine components Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines Assists more experienced technicians with diagnostics and development of repair plans engines in the workshop Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation Adheres to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor
Competencies :
- Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on diesel engines and related systems, including fuel systems, aftertreatment components, injectors, overheads, alternators, and water pumps.
- Utilize Cummins INSITE, QuickServe, and other electronic service tools to accurately diagnose issues, develop repair plans, and document completed work.
- Analyze engine and vehicle system interactions, including electrical, cooling, exhaust, fuel, and emissions systems, to efficiently identify root causes and restore equipment to operation.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, repair records, and diagnostic findings while ensuring compliance with Cummins quality and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers, technicians, and service leadership to provide timely updates, explain repair recommendations, and deliver a positive customer experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment, manage multiple priorities, and quickly contribute to a team that is operating below full staffing levels.
- Bring a stable work history, relevant diesel certifications, and hands-on experience with Cummins-powered equipment, while maintaining a commitment to continuous learning, safety, and professional development.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
- This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
- A current valid license is required for this role
- Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
- Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
