Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role :

We are looking for a highly execution-oriented Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams building and operating critical retail and commerce platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in retail-tech, omni-channel commerce, or supply-chain-driven organizations, with a proven ability to deliver complex technology initiatives at scale.

This role requires a hands-on engineering leader who can drive execution, ensure operational excellence, and collaborate effectively across business, product, operations, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering pods and drive end-to-end delivery of business-critical initiatives.
• Own the architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance of commerce and retail technology platforms.
• Manage and optimize integrated ecosystems involving :
• Order Management Systems (OMS)
• Point of Sale (POS)
• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Drive engineering excellence across omni-channel retail operations.
• Establish strong production incident management processes and foster a culture of operational excellence.
• Partner closely with Product, Supply Chain, Retail Operations, and Business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
• Ensure high availability, observability, reliability, and performance of distributed systems.
• Lead architectural decisions involving integrations, asynchronous processing, event-driven systems, and platform scalability.
• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers while building high-performing teams.
• Navigate ambiguity and drive execution in a fast-paced growth environment.

Technical Expertise :

• Strong hands-on experience with :
• Distributed systems
• System integrations and APIs
• Event-driven and asynchronous architectures
• Observability, monitoring, and alerting
• Reliability engineering and production operations
• Deep understanding of large-scale commerce and retail technology ecosystems.
• Experience managing complex platform dependencies across multiple systems and teams.

• Proven ability to lead multiple engineering teams or pods simultaneously.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated success in driving delivery and execution in high-growth environments.
• Strong ownership mindset with a focus on outcomes and business impact.
• Experience handling production incidents, crisis management, and operational governance.

• 8 to 12 years of overall software engineering experience.
• 3 to 5 years of experience managing engineering teams, pods, or engineering managers.
• Strong technical foundation with the ability to dive deep when required.
• Execution-driven leader who thrives in fast-moving environments.
• High ownership, bias for action, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Preferably has scaled systems and teams in omni-channel commerce or supply-chain-intensive businesses
