About the Company

We are hiring for a US-based technology company operating two B2B digital platforms.

One is a growing SaaS platform helping organisations manage communities, programmes, experts, events and engagement. The other is an established B2B marketplace that has been operating for more than a decade and is now undergoing modernisation.

With growing enterprise and institutional opportunities, we’re looking for a senior technical leader to take ownership of the technology across both platforms and help shape the next stage of growth.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Engineering who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership.

You’ll get into the architecture and code, assess the existing technology, identify what needs to change, make key technical decisions and lead the engineering function.

You will work directly with the CEO and product leadership, you’ll own the technical direction across both platforms; from architecture, security and infrastructure to engineering standards, delivery and platform modernisation.

You’ll have real ownership and significant autonomy to assess the current environment, shape the right technical and team structure, and build a more secure, reliable and scalable engineering organisation as the company enters its next stage of growth.

What You’ll Do

* Own technical architecture, engineering standards and roadmap across both platforms.

* Assess and improve existing architecture, code, infrastructure, security and integrations.

* Lead the modernisation of the established platform while scaling the newer SaaS platform.

* Establish strong practices around development, testing, deployment, observability and production reliability.

* Stay hands-on with architecture, code reviews and complex technical problems.

* Lead and develop the engineering team, including hiring, mentoring and team structure.

* Translate business and product priorities into practical technical solutions.

* Establish appropriate security, disaster recovery, performance and operational practices.

* Support enterprise opportunities through technical architecture, security reviews and integrations.

* Evaluate technology and infrastructure decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability and cost.

* Help shape the responsible use of AI-assisted development across engineering.

What We’re Looking For

* 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant technical leadership.

* Deep expertise in software architecture, modern web applications, cloud infrastructure, databases, APIs and production systems.

* Strong experience with AWS or comparable cloud environments, security, CI/CD, testing and observability.

* A track record of improving existing platforms across architecture, reliability, security and scalability.

* Experience with legacy systems and platform modernisation.

* Experience leading and developing engineering teams.

* Strong technical judgement and the ability to balance speed, quality, cost and scalability.

* Ability to translate business requirements into sound technical architecture and execution plans.

* Comfortable working directly with a CEO in a lean, fast-moving environment.

* Excellent communication skills and strong business judgement.

* Experience with enterprise or institutional customers is a plus.

* Experience with AI-assisted development is a strong advantage.
