Where the team fits in
Launchpad exists to provide one platform for every product team at REA, bringing together platform engineering, cloud, FinOps, data management, data intelligence and production runtime capabilities so delivery teams can ship faster.
This role sits within Launchpad, in the Cloud Engineering pillar, in the Polaris squad.
Polaris’s mission is to enable cost-efficient and compliant cloud operations by empowering teams with clear information, guidance and automation.
What The Role Is All About
As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence and delivery success for the Polaris squad. You will lead a team of engineers to deliver squad outcomes, strengthen engineering quality, and build a healthy, high-performing team environment.
Role
This role combines technical leadership, people leadership and delivery leadership. In Polaris, that means leading a squad that helps REA teams operate in the cloud with better cost efficiency, stronger compliance and clearer operational guidance, while ensuring Polaris’s own systems and services are healthy, reliable and well run. Day to day the role you’ll be doing:
- Delivering squad roadmap commitments and cloud engineering outcomes in a predictable, sustainable way.
- Maintain high standards in engineering quality, operational excellence, systems health and engineering compliance.
- Grow a high-performing, engaged team through coaching, feedback, recruitment and clear expectations.
- Lead Polaris to deliver on its mission of cost-efficient and compliant cloud operations through information, guidance and automation.
- Drive meaningful progress on squad priorities such as systems handovers, right-sizing and broader custodianship outcomes across Launchpad.
