For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and manage a global, multi-layered organization of over 300+ FTEs and contractors across the US and India
- Serve as the single accountable leader partnering with Enterprise Digital Product and Technology teams to define and execute a modernized, integrated product portfolio strategy that drives customer success
- Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) leader to the business for all engineering capabilities supporting core enterprise platforms across Optum and UnitedHealthcare businesses
- Lead strategic technology planning with Risk, Quality, and Member Experience to align priorities and deliver optimal outcomes
- Drive innovation by shaping scalable technology strategies and solutions that support long-term enterprise goals
- Partner with business stakeholders to enable seamless omni-channel experiences for those we serve
- Formulate and lead both near-term and long-term digital product development strategies and ongoing deliveries
- Benchmark performance against best-in-class standards, advancing the enterprise 'Reimagining Healthcare' agenda and setting a vision to exceed key targets
- Oversee and ensure full accountability for all UHG digital asset roadmaps and an estimated annual portfolio budget exceeding $385+ million
- Strategically leverage advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and automation to solve complex enterprise problems, unlock opportunities, and deliver tangible business value
- Integrate modern enterprise tools into development plans, set technology goals, align hiring with emerging tech competencies, and actively remove barriers to accelerate team adoption
- Champion the ethical use of technology by embedding transparency, fairness, security, and accountability throughout the entire engineering and product lifecycle
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of senior-level technology leadership experience directing large-scale product engineering, SRE, or enterprise systems management functions
- 5+ years of experience leading complex, global cross-functional technology teams of 250+ people across multiple countries
- 5+ years of experience managing an annual technology/product portfolio budget of $150M+ with full financial accountability and strategic roadmap ownership
- Experience partnering with executive leadership to define, modernize, and execute integrated digital product portfolio strategies across large-scale business segments
- Proven executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the ability to act as a highly effective SPOC to diverse business partners
- Demonstrated experience aligning technology priorities and outcomes with Risk, Quality, or Member Experience stakeholders
- Deep experience in software engineering, SRE, and modern product management principles
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experiences
- Experience leading Strategy & Portfolio Operations and SRE at an enterprise scale
- Experience driving enterprise adoption of advanced technology tools, including ML AI
- Identity Management domain knowledge
- Proven track record of leading large-scale digital transformation and platform modernization initiatives across
- Payer and Provider domain experiences
- Post-graduate degree (e.g., MS in Computer Science, MBA) or industry certifications
