We are looking for a Head of Data Science to lead the evolution of our Data Science strategy and turn data into a true competitive advantage for the business.

The Challenge

As our Head of Data Science, you will build and lead the Data Science function, define its strategy and capabilities, and ensure that data science, machine learning, and AI initiatives deliver measurable business impact.

You will work closely with Product, Technology, Risk, Finance, and Business teams, influencing strategic decisions and helping take our data capabilities to the next level.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Data Science strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Data Science team.
• Identify opportunities where Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI can generate meaningful business impact.
• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of predictive models and analytical solutions.
• Establish best practices for model development, validation, monitoring, and governance.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Risk, and Business teams to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.
• Turn complex technical analysis into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, continuous learning, and high performance.
• Ensure the scalability, quality, and reliability of Data Science solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and AI methodologies that can create competitive advantages.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading Data Science / Machine Learning teams or functions.
• Experience building or transforming Data Science capabilities in a high-growth or technology-driven environment.
• Strong technical expertise in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in Machine Learning.
• Ability to combine technical depth with strategic thinking and business impact.
• Strong experience working cross-functionally with senior stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, strong ownership, and results orientation.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, e-commerce, technology, or startups is a plus.
• Advanced English — mandatory.

Work Model & Location

• Hybrid: 3 days per week in the Bkaya office and 2 days working remotely.
• Location: Mexico City.
• Important: This position is only open to candidates currently based in Mexico City. We are not considering fully remote applications or candidates located outside Mexico City.
