Your responsibilities:

• Strategic leadership: overall responsibility for the strategic development of the business in Japan, with a focus on sales and business development, ensuring consistent implementation of the corporate strategy and identifying opportunities for growth.
• Commercial and innovation leadership: you recognise market opportunities, trends and growth potential early on and translate them into innovative products, new business areas and strategic partnerships.
• Leadership coaching: leading and further developing the established, well-functioning local leadership team, fostering an open, cross-functional culture to drive efficiency, process optimisation and improved customer service.
• Liaising with the German and Dutch HQ: direct reporting line to the CEO of the Verder Scientific Division, with access to the resources and structures of a successful, internationally operating corporate group.

Your profile:

1. Experienced, international leader: proven P&L responsibility and a track record in international companies; experience working abroad is preferred, ensuring strong cross-cultural competence. Excellent English skills are essential.
2. Non-traditional, open and proactive personality: self-confident, with the drive of an innovative change-maker.
3. Scientific education: a degree in Physics, Chemistry or a related natural science — providing first-hand understanding of what it means to work and conduct research in a laboratory environment.
4. Industry background: experience in the laboratory equipment industry is appreciated and beneficial, though not a prerequisite.
5. Discipline all-rounder: beyond the required maturity in management, the ideal candidate brings varied experience across Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Sales, rather than a narrow focus on one functional area.
