Head of Motion Planning
Indexed description
AI Futures are partnered with China's largest industrial automation company and a global leader in motion control and servo systems, to find a Head of Motion Control.
We are looking for an experienced robotics and motion-control specialist to lead the development of next-generation robot motion control technologies, with a focus on precision, efficiency, vibration suppression and dynamic performance.
This is a highly technical, hands-on leadership role working across robotics, control theory, servo systems, mechanical dynamics and embedded control.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimisation of advanced robot motion-control algorithms.
- Drive improvements in motion accuracy, cycle time, trajectory tracking, vibration suppression and dynamic performance.
- Develop and apply advanced control techniques including MPC, adaptive/robust control, model-based control and AI-assisted control.
- Analyse robot dynamics and identify performance limitations across mechanical, electrical, servo and control systems.
- Lead modelling, simulation, algorithm development and experimental validation on real robotic platforms.
- Optimise the interaction between motors, reducers, servo drives, encoders, controllers and mechanical structures.
- Lead technical projects from concept → simulation → prototype → validation → product implementation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers working in motion control.
- Collaborate with international R&D teams to develop next-generation industrial robot platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Control Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
- 6+ years' experience in industrial robotics, motion control or a closely related field.
- Strong expertise in robot motion control, robot dynamics and servo control.
- Proven track record improving robot-level performance, such as accuracy, vibration, cycle time, trajectory tracking or settling time.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of control systems.
- Experience with robot dynamics, vibration control, flexible-body dynamics and/or servo systems.
- Strong mathematical modelling, simulation and experimental validation skills.
- Ability to translate advanced control concepts into real-world robotic products.
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience.
What the Role Offers
- Leadership of advanced industrial robotics and motion-control technology.
- Significant influence over robot architecture and core control algorithms.
- Collaboration with international R&D teams across Europe and China.
- The opportunity to turn advanced control research into commercially deployed robotics technology.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and technical expertise.
