Head of IT, Greater China

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact leadership role for a technology executive who wants to do more than run IT. As Head of IT, Greater China, you will hold full accountability for technology, digital and AI outcomes across the region, with a dual reporting line to the Global CIO and the Greater China CFO.

You will own and operate a dedicated China technology stack while integrating with global enterprise platforms (SAP, Microsoft 365 and Copilot) — decoupling deliberately where regulation, geopolitics or cyber resilience demands it. As a key member of Fonterra's IT Leadership Team, you will ensure Greater China both adopts and actively shapes Fonterra's global Technology Strategy.

Above all, this role exists to convert technology into sustained commercial value — partnering with the business to identify opportunities, build investment cases and drive adoption that moves the P&L.

What You Will Do

• Lead the IT function — set and execute Greater China's IT and digital strategy; chair the IT Steering Committee; operate as a key member of the global IT Leadership Team.
• Own the digital agenda — manage the full portfolio of local digital products (Foodservice platforms, China Datahub, e-commerce, WeChat/social) from concept through to adoption and measurable business impact.
• Partner with the business — develop a deep understanding of the GC P&L, proactively identify where technology creates value, and build compelling business cases that win investment.
• Drive AI adoption — lead real, measured adoption of GenAI and Microsoft Copilot into sales, service and supply workflows; use locally-hosted models for public-facing China use cases.
• Run operations — own day-to-day operations of the China stack, last-mile delivery of global platforms (SAP, M365, network), and local cloud (Alibaba Cloud) performance and compliance.
• Govern data and security — own data residency, cross-border compliance (PIPL, cybersecurity law) and cyber resilience to Fonterra's global standards.
• Manage budget and vendors — develop and oversee the Greater China IT budget, optimise supplier agreements and hold third parties to delivery and service commitments.
• Grow the team — lead and develop a high-performing local IT team (5+ direct, 10+ indirect), fostering strong collaboration with regional and global counterparts.

What You Will Bring

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in IT, Engineering or Management; strong written and spoken Mandarin and English.
• 20+ years in IT and digital, including significant business-facing commercial leadership and proven large-scale digital and AI transformation.
• SAP ERP implementation and management experience.
• Experience developing digital, CRM, distributor and analytics platforms.
• Cloud platform experience, including local cloud (e.g. Alibaba Cloud).
• Proven data platform, governance and change management capability.
• Demonstrated programme management and systems implementation experience.
• Track record of building digital operating models, product-oriented delivery and transformation roadmaps in matrixed global organisations.

Preferred

• Postgraduate qualification or MBA.
• Enterprise AI/GenAI adoption at scale.
• Operating experience under China's data compliance regimes (PIPL, data-export security assessment).
• Exposure to AI-enabled supply chain or smart manufacturing environments.
• Experience moving an organisation from product to platform/digital operating models.
• Agri/dairy industry background. FMCG industry experience.
