Position Overview
This is a high-impact, CTO-level strategic role responsible for defining the technical trajectory of the Hyperscaler Segment. As a Distinguished Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical interface for the most complex account relationships within the hyperscaler space, including organizations such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta.
You will be expected to transcend traditional Sales Engineering boundaries, acting as a force multiplier who bridges the gap between Product, Legal, Pricing, and Delivery teams to orchestrate large-scale strategic initiatives, including Ultra Long Haul (ULH) Dark Fiber and In-Line Amplifier (ILA) infrastructure deployments. This role requires more than technical expertise; it demands process engineering, cross-functional leadership, and strategic influence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Technical Leadership
- Engage in CTO-level strategic discussions to architect long-term, high-capacity network infrastructure solutions, including Dark Fiber, ILA, and Private Wireless.
- Lead cross-functional "tiger teams" to navigate complex challenges involving Network Engineering, Legal, Pricing, and Product organizations to facilitate deal closure and successful implementation.
Infrastructure & Process Innovation
- Engineer and document standard operating procedures for products and solutions that lack formal documentation, particularly within Dark Fiber and complex Lit Network environments.
- Drive systemic process improvements (DLM, EMR) to streamline internal initiatives and reduce implementation risks.
- Leverage and implement AI-driven automation solutions for route assessments, complex deal analysis, and response acceleration, reducing turnaround times from hours to minutes.
Technical Pipeline Development
- Mentor and develop technical talent within the Principal Sales Engineering organization.
- Foster technical excellence and knowledge-sharing across engineering teams.
Customer & Operational Excellence
- Operate at a CTO-ready level while developing strategy related to AI Connect solutions, including Metro and ULH Dark Fiber with ILA.
- Manage and prioritize high-stakes RFPs, evaluating strategic alignment, technical feasibility, and business risk.
- Maintain deep expertise in inventory, network mapping, and CRM systems (e.g., NIDR, Salesforce, inventory availability platforms) to provide accurate, real-time feasibility assessments.
Qualifications
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Network Architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
- Strong background supporting Tier-1 Hyperscaler customers and/or complex enterprise accounts.
