Engineering Team Lead, Digital Transformation, Institutional Banking

This role will lead the design and delivery of digital channels transformation projects (IDEAL Revamp) across multiple business domains under the Institutional Banking Group, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will combine strong banking domain expertise with deep hands-on engineering knowledge, modern software architecture experience, and proven leadership of large engineering organizations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead engineering delivery for corporate digital channels transformation across business domains including Payments, Trade Finance, Accounts, Entitlements, Approvals, etc.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
- Lead solution architecture, technology selection, engineering standards, and development practices across the platform.
- Establish and enforce enterprise engineering standards covering architecture, API design, microservices, event-driven systems, security, observability, testing, and release management.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, solution reviews, code reviews, design governance, and production readiness assessments.
- Lead engineering teams in DBS Technology China and vendor partners while ensuring high-quality delivery and predictable execution.
- Drive DevSecOps and engineering excellence initiatives including CI/CD, automated testing, performance engineering, resiliency testing, observability, and production support practices.
- Champion adoption of AI-enabled software engineering practices and development accelerators across the engineering organization.
- Establish governance and controls for the use of AI engineering tools to ensure compliance with architecture, security, risk, and regulatory standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience with at least 8 years leading large-scale banking technology programmes.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale Corporate Internet Banking, Transaction Banking, Cash Management, Payments, Digital Banking, or Corporate Banking platforms.

- Strong hands-on experience with:

- Demonstrated ability to review complex architectures, technical designs, and codebases while guiding teams toward high-quality engineering outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to engage senior business, operations, risk, and technology leaders.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software engineering tools and modern development accelerators, including:
- Claude Code
- Gemini CLI
- GitHub Copilot
- Agentic AI Development Platforms
- AI-assisted Testing and Code Review Tools
- Demonstrated experience establishing governance and controls for AI-generated code and AI-assisted software delivery.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments using Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and DevOps operating models.
- Cloud, Architecture, Security, Agile, or AI Engineering certifications will be an added advantage.
