System Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Ownership & Engineering

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure across:
• Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
• Windows Server and Active Directory / Entra ID
• Virtualization, storage, and backup systems
• Serve as the primary technical owner for core infrastructure services including identity, compute, storage, and disaster recovery
• Operate as a senior technical expert, capable of designing and troubleshooting complex systems independently
• Develop and maintain system architecture documentation, standards, and configurations

Project Delivery & Execution

• Own and deliver infrastructure projects end-to-end, from planning through implementation, stabilization, and handoff
• Manage multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining accountability for timelines, outcomes, and quality
• Deliver modernization efforts, including cloud adoption, system standardization, and security improvements
• Ensure projects are completed with clear outcomes, accountability, and minimal disruption
• Prioritize and manage workload across projects and operational responsibilities

Security, Backup & Reliability

• Implement and maintain security controls across systems and infrastructure
• Support compliance with internal policies and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, CMMC)
• Own backup and disaster recovery solutions, including testing and validation of recovery processes
• Ensure infrastructure is resilient, monitored, and continuously improved

Operational Execution

• Act as escalation point for complex technical issues
• Own resolution through root cause and permanent fix
• Balance day-to-day operational support with project execution
• Prioritize effectively to maintain system stability and meet delivery commitments

Standardization & Continuous Improvement

• Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, including:
• Build and configuration standards
• Security baselines
• Naming and documentation conventions
• Maintain consistency across locations and environments
• Implement automation to reduce manual effort and improve system reliability

Team Execution

• Work effectively with IT team members and business stakeholders to support execution of initiatives
• Support critical systems such as ERP platforms, remote desktop environments, and shop floor systems
• Coordinate with other teams to resolve issues and complete assigned work
• Communicate project status, risks, and technical considerations to stakeholders clearly and concisely

About the Role

This role is critical to modernizing infrastructure, improving system reliability, and supporting key business initiatives across the organization. The Sr. Systems Engineer executes within IT, delivering stable, secure, and effective technology outcomes while balancing both operational and project demands. This role requires flexibility to travel as needed during key project phases, system implementations, and site support activities (~10%).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or senior infrastructure roles
• Proven ability to independently execute and deliver complex technical work
• Strong experience with:
• Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 administration
• Windows Server and Active Directory / Entra ID
• Backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam)
• Virtualization technologies
• Core networking concepts (firewalls, switching, SD‑WAN, Meraki)
• Strong prioritization, decision-making, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multi-site or multi-business environments
• Strong security mindset with hands-on controls implementation
• Experience supporting ERP or manufacturing-related systems
• Ownership of large-scale infrastructure or modernization initiatives
