Companies now know they need to do something with AI. They just don't know what, how, or where to start. That's where you come in.

At Texterous we turn AI strategy into working solutions, not slides that gather dust. As Chief AI Officer, you're the face to our clients in Austria and the wider DACH region: you translate business needs into practical, safe AI that people actually use. One week you're shipping a working prototype, the next you're in front of a client's board explaining their AI roadmap.

This is a hands-on role. You still open the editor yourself. You choose the models, the tooling and the architecture, and you can defend those choices in a room full of engineers. The roadmap work only lands because you have built the thing yourself and know what it costs to run.

You'll be embedded, sometimes temporarily, sometimes per project, with client organizations, leading their AI transformation from the inside.

What you should like to do:

• Build prototypes, proofs of concept and production-ready solutions with modern AI tooling: LLM APIs, agent frameworks, retrieval, evaluation, and everything it takes to make them run reliably on a client's own data.

• Make the architecture and tooling calls on a project, and stand behind them with the client's development team.

• Translate business challenges into concrete, achievable AI use cases, prioritized on impact, feasibility and risk.

• Create AI roadmaps and implementation plans, and make sure they actually land.

• Deliver workshops, training and presentations on AI and responsible AI use, and act as the primary AI point of contact, from leadership to development team.

• Help build our own service offering, playbooks and frameworks.

What type of person is a Chief AI Officer?

• You are genuinely technical. You have built software, you're at home in a codebase, and you can take an AI idea from an empty file to something that runs. Bring something you built, we would rather see it than read about it.

• You can tell the difference between a model that demos well and one that survives contact with real data, real users and a real security review.

• You keep up. The tooling you used last year is not the tooling you'd pick today, and you can explain why.

• You present confidently in English and German. Concretely: you can run a client workshop and take unscripted questions from a board in German. Dutch is a big plus!

• You're entrepreneurial and enjoy the social side of the job just as much as the technical side, and you like working in a start-up/scale-up environment.

• You're able to build client trust and make complex tech clear to non-technical people.

Why join?

• A good salary, plus a benefits package designed to support your growth and well-being, which could include profit sharing and/or equity as those plans take shape.

• A young, smart and entrepreneurial group of people that work together on AI projects and like to have fun. We regularly head out on team retreats to build, think and do fun stuff together.

• A place to build, experiment and learn alongside other like-minded AI enthusiasts.

• Hybrid working

• Interesting AI projects across the whole DACH region and Benelux, and who knows where next in the world :)
