Your Tasks And Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Lead and build a high-performing team of approximately 30–50 data scientists who work across global business units, creating a supportive structure for career growth, collaboration, and delivery.
- Co-create the vision for the data science organization and evolve its technical strategy to meet business priorities and future opportunities.
- Partner across research, digital product, and crop science business teams to align capabilities, strengthen collaboration, and lead change across the organization, especially in building products and workflows designed to use AI from the start and in delivering AI-powered insights and recommendations for customers.
- Build the capabilities, talent strategies, and career development opportunities needed for the future while coaching individuals to grow, lead, and expand their impact.
- Align resources, budgets, and delivery plans to advance Digital Farming Solutions priorities with focus, discipline, and effective planning, prioritization, and execution.
- Bring in external perspective on emerging trends, technologies, and practices to accelerate innovation and keep the team current with emerging data science and AI practices.
- Create the conditions for people and teams to thrive through clarity, accountability, coaching, and a culture of high performance.
Required:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Agronomy, Life Science, Physical Science, or a related field, with a strong track record in quantitative research, predictive modeling and artificial intelligence.
- 10+ years of technical leadership experience, including building, leading, and developing data science teams.
- Proven ability to drive meaningful business impact through analytics, modeling, and data-informed decision-making.
- Strong business acumen and experience partnering across technical and commercial teams to integrate digital products into business models.
- Exceptional thought leadership and sound judgment, with the ability to shape technical strategy and deliver meaningful business impact.
- Ability to align technical and business strategy, make progress when priorities or information are uncertain, and lead change across teams and organizational boundaries.
- Authentic and self-aware leader with strong curiosity, a commitment to continuous learning, and an openness to diverse perspectives that strengthen culture, innovation, and impact.
