SUN is building audio experience that makes people better: interactive, personalized, proactive, always current, and unlimited. While most companies are using AI agents to replace people, we’re using AI to expand what people can learn, understand, and become.

The Role

This is a full-time, in-office role at Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, California. We believe the earliest stages of building a company are best done together, in the same room. We’re a small, scrappy team that moves fast and ships constantly. You’ll work directly with the CEO and our AI engineer.

We’re looking for an exceptional Founding Engineer to own engineering across SUN, from architecture and product to infrastructure and reliability. This is a hands-on role. You’ll move across the stack, make important decisions, and turn ideas into products without waiting for permission. As SUN grows, you’ll attract exceptional engineers and build the team around you.

What You’ll Own

• SUN’s backend, frontend, and mobile products
• DevOps and AI infrastructure
• Ultimately, anything engineering

You don’t need to know every technology on day one. You do need exceptional range, judgment, curiosity, and learning speed. We also expect you to use AI agents extensively and responsibly.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience at a top technology company or high-performing startup
• Strong product instincts and a belief in shipping things that make people better
• A track record of building and owning production systems across the stack
• Comfort operating in extreme ambiguity and being the person who makes the call
• A bias toward action, experimentation, and shipping

Nice to Have

• Experience with TTS, speech, real-time audio, or conversational agents
• Experience with search, ranking, metadata, and large content catalogs
• Mobile experience (Flutter), including performance, offline behavior, and battery efficiency
• Experience building or scaling consumer products
