Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Engineering to lead and manage all engineering activities within the company. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of innovative rail control solutions, ensuring technical excellence, project delivery, and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
Job Responsibilities :
- Define and implement the overall engineering strategy, roadmap, and technical vision in alignment with company objectives and market demands.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance of rail control systems.
- Ensure the technical integrity, quality, and safety of all engineering deliverables, adhering to relevant national and international standards (e.g., CENELEC, EN).
- Manage engineering budgets, resources, and timelines effectively, optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with product management, project management, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and successful product delivery.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for key stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
- Drive innovation and research and development initiatives, exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance Hitachi Rail's product offerings.
- Establish and maintain robust engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Represent Hitachi Rail RCS France SAS at industry conferences, workshops, and technical forums.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in engineering leadership roles within the railway signaling, rail control, or a closely related safety-critical industry.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large, complex engineering teams and projects.
- Deep expertise in railway signaling systems (e.g., ERTMS, CBTC, interlocking, train protection systems).
- Strong understanding of safety-critical systems development and relevant industry standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute engineering strategies and roadmaps.
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
- Experience with agile development methodologies is a plus.
