Head of Engineering – Business Origination & Advanced Analytics Platform

We're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead a large engineering organization (~40 internal and external FTE) within a core technology domain supporting Life & Health (re)insurance operations.

This is a senior leadership role combining engineering leadership, solution design, architecture oversight, and strategic direction, covering business-critical capabilities including pricing, treaty underwriting, underwriting guidelines, and experience analysis.

What you'll do:

• Lead and develop the engineering organization across internal teams and external partners
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure platforms supporting pricing, underwriting workflows, and experience analysis
• Translate business priorities into a coherent engineering roadmap, as part of the technology leadership team
• Drive architecture decisions ensuring strong alignment between data platforms, analytical models, pricing logic, and underwriting rules
• Establish best-in-class engineering practices: coding standards, test automation, observability, security and compliance by design
• Drive adoption of AI to improve engineering productivity, platform capabilities, and decision support
• Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers
• Partner with underwriting, pricing, and analytics stakeholders to align priorities and ensure business relevance
• Manage external vendors and partners with clear accountability for delivery and quality

What we're looking for:

• Strong leadership experience in complex engineering environments
• Ability to combine strategic thinking with deep technical judgment
• Solid understanding of data-driven and decision-support systems, ideally in pricing, underwriting, or analytical domains
• Proven experience leading large engineering teams or domains, including external partners
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, and integration patterns
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and DevOps principles
• Experience with data-intensive and analytical platforms (pricing/modelling systems, rules/decision engines, underwriting systems, or portfolio analytics)
• Practical understanding of AI/LLM opportunities in engineering and decision systems
• Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or other regulated environments is an advantage
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
