About the Company:
Our client is a leading international manufacturer operating within the consumer goods sector, supplying products to customers across multiple markets. As part of an ambitious investment and growth strategy, the business is undertaking a significant portfolio of engineering and capital projects designed to expand operational capabilities, improve efficiency, and support long-term growth.

To support this expansion, they are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead project delivery, develop engineering capabilities, and act as a key interface across the site's leadership team.

This is a highly visible leadership role reporting directly to the site's Technical Leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the engineering project function, managing project engineers and project managers, and ensuring the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital investment projects ranging from smaller improvements (€10,000-€20,000) through to major programmes valued at over €40 million.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a growing team of Project Engineers and Project Managers.
• Take ownership of the site's engineering project portfolio from concept through to handover and implementation.
• Manage multiple CAPEX projects simultaneously, ranging from small site improvements to major strategic investments.
• Evaluate technical and commercial proposals, selecting the most appropriate solutions based on cost, quality, risk, and long-term value.
• Develop, implement, and track engineering and project KPIs.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement across project execution and engineering processes.
• Support the development and coaching of both junior and senior project management talent.
• Create alignment between engineering, operations, maintenance, automation, and other site functions.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Technical Background
• Experience managing CAPEX budgets and complex project portfolios.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and engineering governance.
• Experience within Food & Beverage, FMCG, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Medical Devices, Oil & Gas, or similar process manufacturing industries.
• Strong communicator capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive and preventative in approach, identifying issues before they become major problems.
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work at eye level with both shop-floor and senior stakeholders.
• Open to feedback and continuous improvement.
• Hands-on, energetic, and passionate about engineering and project delivery.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Able to mentor and develop future engineering and project leaders.

Requirements:

• Fluent German language skills (mandatory).
• Professional English communication skills.
• Willingness to work primarily on-site in Bremen.
• Strong stakeholder management experience across multiple departments and functions.
• Managing CAPEX projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
• Experience in heavy regulatory or processing environments.
