Engineering Lead

Location: Cambridge, MA (Hybrid, 4 days onsite)
Pay: $250,000-$270,000 Base + 20% Bonus + Equity

An innovative, venture-backed healthcare technology company is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to help scale its engineering organisation during a critical growth phase. Operating at the intersection of AI, machine learning, and healthcare data, the company is building technology that improves how complex diseases are detected, monitored, and understood. This role offers the opportunity to shape engineering culture, processes, and technical direction while remaining deeply involved in product development.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Own engineering delivery, sprint planning, execution, and operational excellence.
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and executive leadership on roadmap execution.
• Contribute directly to production code, architecture, and technical decision-making.
• Design and build scalable backend systems and application platforms.
• Establish and improve CI/CD pipelines, testing practices, observability, and reliability standards.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows and modern development practices.
• Support hiring efforts and help scale the engineering function as the business grows.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience.
• Minimum 3+ years of direct people management experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern application development.
• Experience with React and cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP).
• Expertise building CI/CD pipelines and scalable deployment processes.
• Previous startup or high-growth technology company experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
