About This Position

SportSpired Games is looking for a Technical Director Publishing Platform & Live Services to build the technology foundation behind our publishing and live operations ecosystem.

SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY.GAMES, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft, and EA Sports. We are currently working on a large-scale AAA title planned for release in 2028–2029.

You will define the architecture and technical strategy for an internal platform that enables Publishing, LiveOps, Community, Customer Support, CRM, BI, and other teams to operate PC and Console games at scale with minimal dependency on development teams.

This is a senior technical leadership role combining architecture ownership, engineering leadership, and long-term platform strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical vision, architecture, and long-term roadmap for the Publishing Platform and Live Services ecosystem
  • Design scalable distributed services, including domain boundaries, data ownership, APIs, integrations, and reliability requirements
  • Lead the development of platform services and internal tools for Publishing, LiveOps, Community, Customer Support, CRM, BI, and other teams
  • Own Build vs Buy decisions and third-party integrations, including CRM, BI, Helpdesk, payment services, and other SaaS solutions
  • Build and lead the engineering team, including hiring, mentoring, resource planning, and engineering standards
  • Own the technical budget across infrastructure, vendors, licenses, and engineering resources
  • Ensure platform scalability, reliability, security, observability, disaster recovery, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and applicable security and regulatory requirements
  • Drive the development of platform APIs and client SDKs for integration with game projects
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and build reusable solutions across multiple titles
  • Present technical strategy, architecture, risks, and investment decisions to company leadership

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3–5+ years as a Technical Lead, Architect, Engineering Manager, or Technical Director
  • Experience in GameDev, publishing technology, or gaming platform development
  • Experience designing and operating high-scale distributed online services with strong reliability and availability requirements
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture, microservices and modular systems, APIs, and integration patterns
  • Proven experience building and scaling engineering teams
  • Experience integrating third-party SaaS platforms and managing vendor dependencies without unnecessary architectural complexity
  • Strong track record of making architecture decisions based on technical and business trade-offs and communicating them to senior leadership
  • Experience with large-scale data systems, including multi-terabyte databases and high-throughput event processing
  • Understanding of data partitioning, replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical, product, and business teams
  • Understanding of Live Service games and the technical challenges of operating online products at scale
