Responsibilities:
- Lead technology strategy and engineering execution across a large, distributed organization.
- Drive modernization of high-volume, transaction-intensive, and mission-critical enterprise platforms.
- Improve software delivery velocity, quality, reliability, scalability, and overall engineering productivity.
- Establish architecture direction across Java, microservices, cloud, private cloud, data, APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
- Translate business priorities, customer needs, market changes, and regulatory requirements into executable technology roadmaps.
- Lead major platform transformation initiatives while maintaining stability and performance across existing production environments.
- Drive practical adoption of AI across software development, testing, operations, automation, and customer-facing workflows.
- Identify opportunities to use emerging technologies to improve engineering efficiency and business outcomes.
- Develop engineering leaders and build high-performing teams while maintaining sufficient technical depth to challenge architecture and delivery decisions.
- Lead geographically distributed onshore and offshore engineering organizations.
- Partner closely with product, operations, commercial, and other business leaders to align technology investments with strategic priorities.
- Communicate technology strategy, investment priorities, risks, architecture decisions, and delivery progress to senior executives and key stakeholders.
Role Requirements:
- Significant senior technology leadership experience as a CTO, SVP/VP of Engineering, Head of Engineering, or comparable technology executive.
- Demonstrated experience leading a large or highly complex software engineering organization.
- Strong technical and architectural foundation with the ability to remain close to engineering despite executive-level responsibilities.
- Experience leading technology organizations responsible for high-volume, transaction-intensive, data-intensive, or mission-critical platforms.
- Strong background modernizing complex legacy enterprise applications and platforms.
- Experience with Java or comparable enterprise technologies and modern microservices-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, data architecture, integration patterns, and modern software engineering practices.
- Cloud architecture and transformation experience, ideally including AWS or another major public cloud platform.
- Experience operating across public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Proven ability to materially improve engineering velocity, software delivery, platform quality, and organizational effectiveness.
- Experience leading distributed onshore and offshore engineering teams.
- Experience operating in complex, regulated, or technology-intensive business environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into technology strategy and execution.
- Demonstrated use of AI and Generative AI to improve engineering productivity, automation, customer experiences, or broader business outcomes.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to move comfortably between executive strategy and detailed technology, architecture, and delivery discussions.
- Track record of building strong engineering leadership teams and creating cultures centered on accountability, curiosity, innovation, and execution.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with AI development tools and platforms such as Claude or comparable LLM technologies.
- Experience introducing AI-assisted software development, testing, automation, or operational workflows at enterprise scale.
- Experience modernizing large-scale transactional or real-time processing platforms.
- Experience in healthcare technology, fintech, payments, financial services, insurance technology, e-commerce, enterprise SaaS, or another high-volume technology environment.
- Experience with cloud-agnostic or hybrid-cloud platform transformation.
- Experience leading multiple agile engineering teams and large technology-transformation programs.
- Experience managing significant technology budgets and complex transformation roadmaps.
- Experience consolidating or transforming engineering functions across architecture, DevOps, QA, CI/CD, and release management.
- Experience leading technology initiatives driven by significant regulatory, compliance, or industry changes.
