Vice President of Software Engineering

Momentum Global is partnering with a private equity-backed software business to appoint a VP Software Engineering during a pivotal phase of growth and transformation.

This is a high-impact executive leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who combines strong technical credibility with a proven ability to drive organisational change. The successful candidate will lead a sizeable SaaS engineering function, helping shape the next phase of the company's technology strategy, delivery capability, engineering culture, and operational excellence.

The business operates with a modern engineering environment including C#/.NET, cloud-native infrastructure, mature CI/CD practices, and emerging AI-enabled software development tooling. The focus now is on scaling engineering effectiveness, accelerating product delivery, and building a best-in-class technology organisation capable of supporting ambitious growth objectives.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the executive leadership team, the VP Software Engineering will be responsible for leading and evolving the software engineering organisation across multiple teams and disciplines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Defining and executing the engineering strategy aligned to business and product objectives
• Leading organisational transformation initiatives to improve engineering effectiveness, scalability, and delivery performance
• Building and developing high-performing engineering leadership teams
• Driving modern software engineering practices across architecture, development, testing, security, and operations
• Partnering closely with Product, Customer Success, and Commercial leadership to deliver customer value at pace
• Leveraging AI-assisted development capabilities and automation to improve productivity and quality
• Strengthening engineering governance, metrics, planning, and operational excellence
• Creating a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and talent development

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a strategic engineering executive with a strong track record within B2B SaaS environments.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Significant experience leading and scaling product-led software engineering organisations in SaaS or software product companies
• Prior experience operating within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or transformation environment
• Demonstrated success leading organisational and cultural transformation across engineering teams
• Strong technical foundation with experience in modern software engineering ecosystems, ideally including Cloud platforms, Modern DevOps and CI/CD practices, Platform engineering & automation and AI-powered developer tooling and engineering productivity solutions
• Experience managing engineering leaders and distributed teams
• Strong commercial awareness and an ability to align technology investment with business outcomes
• Executive-level stakeholder management and communication skills

Essential Requirements

• Native-level or highly fluent professional German (C2/C3 equivalent)
• Based in Germany
• Eligibility to work within Germany
