Chief Technology Officer

A high-growth SaaS business is looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the next phase of its technical and organisational growth.

Reporting directly to the executive team, you'll define the technical vision, scale a high-performing engineering organisation and ensure technology continues to be a competitive advantage as the business grows.

You'll inherit an established modern technology stack and a talented team spanning Engineering, Product, Design and QA. Your focus will be on developing people, improving delivery, evolving architecture and creating an engineering culture capable of supporting significant future growth.

What you'll be doing

• Define and execute the company's long-term technology strategy, ensuring it aligns with commercial objectives.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary technology teams across Engineering, Product, Design and QA.
• Build a high-performance engineering culture centred around collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Scale the technology function, implementing the processes, structures and leadership required to support continued growth.
• Partner closely with the executive leadership team to influence product strategy, business planning and technical investment.
• Drive architectural decisions, ensuring the platform remains secure, scalable and resilient.
• Champion Agile ways of working and foster a culture of iterative delivery and continuous learning.
• Support and mentor engineering leaders, helping develop the next generation of technical leadership.
• Ensure engineering best practice across software development, infrastructure, DevOps and platform reliability.

What you'll need

• Previous experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, Engineering Director or another senior technology leadership role within a high-growth SaaS business.
• A proven track record of scaling technology organisations across Engineering, Product, Design and QA.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience aligning technology strategy to business objectives.
• Excellent leadership skills with experience building, mentoring and developing high-performing technical teams.
• Experience operating within Agile product development environments.
• Strong understanding of modern cloud-native software architecture and engineering best practices.
• Hands-on technical background with experience across Node.js, React, TypeScript, Next.js and AWS.
• Good understanding of containerisation and cloud infrastructure using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience balancing technical excellence with pragmatic commercial decision making.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at board and executive level.

• Experience leading technology functions through periods of rapid scaling.
• Background within venture-backed or high-growth SaaS organisations.
• Experience modernising engineering processes, delivery practices and platform architecture.
